The Hong Kong Government will implement the Municipal Solid Waste Charging Scheme on 1 August 2024. In line with the "polluter-pays" principle, the waste disposed from all sectors will be subject to charging based on quantity. This has provoked a debate focusing mainly on the challenges.
In this event, we will look at the opportunities waste is offering to both Hong Kong and international business in areas such as reduction, collection, processing and resource recovery. Key industry stakeholders and start-ups will engage in discussions to explore innovative ways to turn waste into opportunity – and what role Hong Kong can play in this process.
