Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) is looking for a confident, experienced and passionate professional to join us as Senior Vice President. In this exciting role, you will need to drive investment promotion work focusing on the gold and commodity trading ecosystem, mobility, transport/logistics and industrial sectors. You will leverage your sector knowledge, industry and/or government experience and network to promote Hong Kong as an international hub for these sectors. Working with InvestHK’s global network, you will attract and support leading companies from Chinese Mainland and overseas to set up and/or expand their operations in and via Hong Kong.
You will need to demonstrate:
- extensive knowledge and work experience in at least one of the following areas –
o Gold and commodity trading ecosystem: preferably with experience in gold/ commodity trading, or other related sub-sectors, such as gold refinery or delivery point operations;
o Mobility: preferably with experience in new energy vehicle, ride hailing platform and autonomous driving;
o Transport/Logistics: preferably with experience in maritime, aviation or logistics sector;
o Industrial: preferably with experience in industrial sector;
o Work experience in HKSAR Government or statutory bodies in marketing/ promotion or talent attraction.
- strong knowledge of HKSAR’s economic development initiatives;
- good business acumen and proven record of performance in client-facing activities with savvy marketing and business development skills in the relevant sector(s);
- good track record of generating leads and capable of managing the relationship with ecosystem stakeholders, such as technology parks, universities, research institutions, industrial organisations, investor groups, chambers and/or corporates, etc.;
- capability to connect, engage and approach corporate management to understand their needs and provide deep industry insights and support;
- strong Chinese and English language skills and presentation skills; and
- good knowledge and understanding of Hong Kong’s business environment and familiarity of business opportunities in Chinese Mainland and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Duties
- To meet the assigned targets in terms of completed projects, investment amount, employment, GoGlobal project, Northern Metropolis project and other internal referrals, etc.;
- To actively engage and collaborate with InvestHK’s other teams, Chinese Mainland and overseas teams to assist and facilitate clients in investment projects;
- To proactively curate and produce investment promotion events and marketing materials, and conduct public-speaking, media interviews, and/or social marketing whenever appropriate;
- To be the go-to subject expert in the assigned sectors from multiple perspectives including but not limited to industry knowledge, policies and initiatives in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, and country knowledge to assist in the preparation and execution of business strategies and plans on inward investment promotion of the assigned sectors, and other administrative duties;
- To engage and develop partnerships with relevant HKSAR’s government bureaux, departments, statutory bodies and industry bodies, etc. to generate synergies and enhance service quality to clients;
- To continuously advance knowledge in relevant fields and demonstrate passion for public service, dedication to duty, integrity, and accountability to ensure compliance with government regulations and guidelines;
- frequent travel outside of HK is expected and required; and
- perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.
Entry Requirements
- Five years of full-time work experience in account management, business development, consulting, or sales and marketing acquired in the gold and commodities trading ecosystem, mobility, transport/logistics and/or industrial sector(s) or in the HKSAR Government or statutory bodies;
- Good knowledge and experience in the mentioned sectors and its ecosystems. Prior work experience in investment promotion, marketing communications, consulting or economic development would be an advantage;
- Extensive business networks within the relevant sectors, including in the investment community;
- A good command of written Chinese and English, and spoken Putonghua, Cantonese and English; and
- A Bachelor’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent.
Terms of Appointment
Successful applicant will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for three months and the term will be extended up to an accumulative period of not more than 24 months subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of Invest Hong Kong. Under normal circumstances, there will usually be further renewal of contract, subject to the performance and conduct of the applicant, and the service need of the department.
Fringe Benefits
- An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period; and
- Applicant appointed will be granted 14 days of annual leave and the entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for appointment less than 12 months. Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted mainly in line with the provisions of the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance.
