The combination strengthens our global platform, enabling us to help clients navigate complex matters at the intersection of finance, business and government, from financings and investments to regulatory developments and cross-border disputes.

Following a milestone combination, global legal platform Hogan Lovells Cadwalader leverages Hong Kong as a strategic gateway to help clients navigate complex crossborder opportunities and challenges.

“For us, the combination is beyond scale. This integration delivers a unified global platform to help clients navigate complex cross-border opportunities and challenges,” said Owen Chan, Regional Managing Partner, Asia-Pacific at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader. Central to that platform is Hong Kong. “The city remains a key gateway between international capital and opportunities across Asia.”

On 1 July 2026, the combination of Hogan Lovells and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft (Cadwalader) created one of the world’s largest legal platforms, bringing together more than 3,100 lawyers across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific. The merger seamlessly integrates Cadwalader’s longstanding strength in finance, structured products, and capital markets with Hogan Lovells’ corporate, regulatory, intellectual property, and dispute resolution expertise.

Supporting Global Business from Asia’s International Gateway

“Hong Kong plays an important role for us in connecting clients across Asia-Pacific, EMEA and the Americas,” shared Chan. “Many of today’s most significant transactions involve multiple jurisdictions and require coordinated advice across legal, regulatory and commercial disciplines. Hong Kong’s position as a gateway between the Chinese Mainland and international markets makes it a natural location to support our work.”

For Asia-Pacific clients, this combination simplifies access to teams across key regional markets and financial centres. “Our lawyers are increasingly helping clients navigate complex matters at the intersection of finance, business and government, from financings and investments to regulatory developments and cross-border disputes,” said Chan. “Hong Kong plays an important coordinating role in many of these matters, enabling clients to access international resources while benefiting from local and regional market knowledge.”

Investing in Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific’s Future

“We continue to expand our strategic hires across fast-evolving sectors, including finance, private capital, technology, and energy and infrastructure,” noted Chan. Supporting that growth on the ground are local partners who understand the market. InvestHK can
offer market intelligence, sector policy updates and government-industry linkages that can facilitate long-term growth.

“As a premier international financial centre, the city offers a unique combination of global connectivity, deep capital markets, top talent, and a trusted legal framework,” said Chan. “It continues to attract multinational corporations, financial institutions, private equity sponsors and investors, driving strong demand for professional services to support global business growth.”

“All of this explains why Hong Kong has long been one of our most important hubs in Asia-Pacific, and our office here is vital to our long-term growth,” Chan concluded. “As global investment flows evolve and clients seek integrated advice across jurisdictions, the city remains uniquely positioned to connect international businesses with opportunities throughout the region.”
