Award-winning Korean digital design and art tech company opens its first overseas outlet in Hong Kong

Renowned Korean digital design and immersive media technology company d'strict announced today (12 October 2022) that it is using Hong Kong as the regional base to expand its global reach. The opening of the ARTE M digital exhibition space and office in Hong Kong is the first step of d'strict's two-pronged strategy for entering the Chinese market.

ARTE M is aimed as a 15-month immersive media art exhibition space located in an iconic office building at Quarry Bay as a prelude to d'strict's ARTE MUSEUM in Hong Kong slated for opening between late 2023 and early 2024 in SKYCITY of Hong Kong International Airport. It is the first step for d'strict's ARTE MUSEUM global expansion, according to the company's CEO, Mr Sean Lee.

He said, "Hong Kong is one of the major cities in Asia with good infrastructure and resources, and attracts people from all over the world. In addition, major art fairs, including Art Basel Hong Kong, and the world's leading galleries have a strong presence in Hong Kong, attracting many artists and art lovers every year. It is an ideal platform for us to showcase our immersive media art, advanced digital technologies, and aesthetics to the world."

He added, "Hong Kong people not only have a significant interest and affection for the fusion of technology and art, especially media art, but also have high spending power. As a global provider of digital media art, we have recognised the significance of Hong Kong, the city of art, as an essential business hub."

Apart from exhibition operations, d'strict also offers various commercial services to corporate clients including customised media art content and licensing of intellectual property. With its extensive experience working with numerous digital outdoor advertising platforms and international brands to showcase sophisticated immersive media artwork, the company is open to collaboration with more overseas brands and marketers through Hong Kong.

Mr Lee said that the company will expand its Hong Kong team to manage the operations of ARTE M as well as ARTE MUSEUM. It also plans to establish another subsidiary in Hong Kong to handle business development related to d'strict in the Mainland. These will open exhibition and art-related job vacancies for the Hong Kong workforce, including operations managers, PR/marketing managers and many other back-office staff.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Charles Ng said, "The development of arts technology is a focus of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. We are happy to see that a world-class digital design and immersive media technology company chose Hong Kong as its first overseas foothold to scale globally via our city. It adds new energy to the city's robust digital media art industry, providing new opportunities both to the local workforce and the business community. It is a big vote of confidence in Hong Kong's creative industries and business environment. We wish d'strict every success and look forward to its creative projects in the future."
