Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) is looking for passionate, high-calibre and result-oriented professionals to join us as Senior Vice President/ Vice President (Strategy and Planning).
The Role
The successful candidate will play a role in driving special projects that advance the Department’s business objectives. Working closely with cross-departmental and cross-functional teams, he/she will help deliver impactful results by driving investment promotion initiatives, formulating and executing strategies to strengthen Hong Kong’s business-friendly environment, and providing high-quality executive support to the directorate.
You will need to demonstrate:
- a good understanding of the role of InvestHK with knowledge of the local and international business environments and Hong Kong government operations;
- strong strategic thinking, analytical, and project management skills, with proven track record of leading cross-functional work and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive impact and outcomes;
- ability to work independently under pressure, handle complex and sensitive issues, and meet tight deadlines;
- ability to set priorities, meet targets and objectives, and respond effectively to ad hoc requests at short notice;
- strong language, writing, and presentation skills;
- excellent communication and liaison skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior officials, business executives, and stakeholders of all levels; and
- willingness to conduct frequent duty visits/ business trips outside Hong Kong when required.
A candidate will be considered for either a Senior Vice President or a Vice President position depending on the experience and qualifications demonstrated.
Duties
- To establish and maintain formal fast-track protocols with key government departments to expedite cases handled through InvestHK, and develop service toolkits and guides to standardise delivery;
- To collect sentiments from clients and key partners under the “Economic and Trade Express” initiative, promote and refine relevant initiatives, and resolve issues through the inter-departmental/ agency referral mechanism;
- To engage and build partnership with relevant government bureaux/ departments, organisations and internal teams to address concerns, enhance service delivery, and maintain an updated stakeholder and cases database;
- To provide executive support to directorate officers, including but not limited to developing professional presentation materials, drafting briefs, and supporting team performance management;
- To contribute to projects and research, and assist in investment promotion initiatives such as duty visits, client engagement, stakeholder outreach, public speaking, and digital marketing;
- To participate in business meetings and events, and handle necessary follow-ups; and
- To perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.
Entry Requirements
- 5 years of full-time work experience in investment promotion, business planning & development, inter-departmental work or stakeholder engagement, preferably gained in large organisations;
- Experience of working in the government or public bodies, or in business consultancy on company set-up, would be an advantage;
- A Bachelor’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent. A higher degree would be an advantage;
- A strong command of both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English; and
- Excellent skills of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Terms of Appointment
Successful applicant will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for three months and the term will be extended up to an accumulative period of not more than 24 months subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of Invest Hong Kong. Under normal circumstances, there will usually be further renewal of contract, subject to the performance and conduct of the applicant, and the service need of the department.
Fringe Benefits
- An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period; and
- Applicant appointed will be granted 14 days of annual leave and the entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for appointment less than 12 months. Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted mainly in line with the provisions of the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance.
