Hong Kong brings together international research resources and an open business environment, making it an ideal location for healthcare technology companies to connect with global markets and pursue innovation.

Shenzhen–Hong Kong Dual-Centre Strategy Accelerates the Internationalisation of Minimally Invasive Care.

“Hong Kong is not only a gateway connecting HugeMed with the Chinese Mainland and global markets, but also a strategic hub for international innovation resources, talent and industry collaboration,” said Hu Jifan, Chairman of HugeMed. As the company expands its international business, Hong Kong is becoming a core springboard for innovation partnerships and global commercialisation.

Identifying Gaps in Minimally Invasive Care to Achieve Technological
Breakthroughs

With rising global demand for efficient, precise, and accessible care, MedTech innovation has become a vital catalyst for healthcare development. Since its establishment in 2014, HugeMed has been dedicated to advancing endoscopic diagnosis and treatment technologies, continuously providing more options for minimally invasive urological care.

Speaking about the company’s technological breakthroughs, Hu said: “Our self-developed disposable electronic flexible ureteroscope has an insertion tube
with an outer diameter of only approximately 2.1mm. It combines high-definition imaging, precise control and reliable performance, offering a safer and more efficient new option for minimally invasive urological care.” Its single-use design also helps reduce the risk of contamination associated with repeated use.
Shenzhen–Hong Kong Dual-Centre Strategy

Headquartered in Shenzhen, HugeMed has operations in Hong Kong, Jiangxi and Hunan, forming a complete ecosystem covering research and development (R&D), manufacturing and sales. The company has been recognised as a National High-Tech Enterprise and designated as an innovative “Little Giant” enterprise by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Currently, the company’s products have passed medical device regulatory reviews in China (NMPA), the United States (FDA) and the European Union (CE), with operations covering over 100 countries and regions. As business expansion continues, the company has positioned its Hong Kong office as its regional headquarters, forming a “dual-centre” strategic layout with its Shenzhen headquarters.

“Our Hong Kong regional headquarters serves three core functions,” Hu said. “First, we are building an international research and innovation centre in partnership with the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences to conduct cutting edge R&D focused on advanced medical devices such as surgical robots. Second, establishing a Hong Kong marketing centre responsible for participating in international exhibitions and regional business expansion to drive product adoption in key markets. Third, Hong Kong acts as our global settlement hub, leveraging its mature financial system to support overseas fund management and global expansion.”

Hu added: “The Hong Kong team has continued to grow since its establishment. We plan to expand it to more than 10 employees, focusing on international sales, advanced R&D, and technical support.”

Building Local Healthcare Connections with InvestHK

InvestHK provided substantial support as HugeMed established its presence and developed its local business in Hong Kong. Hu stated: “Ecosystem support is crucial for corporate expansion. InvestHK helped us gain a deeper understanding of the current development and relevant policies of Hong Kong’s life and health technology sector. It also assisted us in connecting with local medical resources and facilitated exchanges with local healthcare institutions and industry partners, creating favourable conditions for us to pursue clinical collaborations and expand our business network.”
