We see a ‘Golden Age’ for cybersecurity in Hong Kong, with the city emerging as a premier global innovation and technology hub.
“Hong Kong is the strategic heartbeat of North Asia,” said Cherry Fung, Senior Regional Director, North Asia of Fortinet. That belief is driving a significant expansion in the city as cybersecurity becomes central to economic growth and digital transformation.
Cybersecurity as a Business Enabler
As organisations adopt AI-first strategies and scale digital operations, security has moved to the forefront. “Cybersecurity has shifted from an IT expense to a business enabler,” Fung noted.

The city’s role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, combined with developments such as the Northern Metropolis, is driving strong demand for cybersecurity. “The need to protect critical infrastructure has never been higher,” she noted.
With robust regulatory frameworks and accelerating smart city initiatives, Hong Kong continues to offer strong long-term potential as an international innovation and technology hub.
Building a Regional Hub
Fortinet’s Hong Kong office serves as its North Asia regional hub, overseeing key markets across the region. “We have built Hong Kong into a centre of excellence,” Fung said.
The office brings together leadership, technical support, and a Customer Briefing Centre for live demonstrations and collaboration. With over 90 employees
and steady double-digit growth, expansion is ongoing. “In June 2026, we relocated to a new hub that doubles our footprint,” she shared.
