Prepare to say goodbye to disposable plastic tableware and other plastic products in catering premises with the new regulation!
Hong Kong Government is taking a step towards prohibiting the use of disposable tableware in all catering premises. The first-phase regulation will commence on 22 April 2024, i.e. Earth Day. The new regulation requires restaurants, retail stores and hotels to reduce the use of disposable tableware at source.
Invest Hong Kong invites the Environmental Protection Department and Hong Kong Productivity Council to hold a session for operators of catering premises to focus on the impact of the new legislation and provide appropriate suggestions. We hope to help the industry players make changes within a grace period of 6 months in compliance with the new regulation as stipulated.
And, there will be a marketplace showcasing the alternatives and solutions available in the market.
