Overview

In the past few years, Hong Kong people's lives have been transformed by multiple waves of crises. During this difficult time, people in Hong Kong continue to make positive changes to our society within their capacity. These bottom-up efforts, however big or small, are the seeds of resilience coming from the soil of Hong Kong. In UABB 2022, we shall re-discover the diverse seeds of resilience from the personal, communal, ecological and many more aspects, and put them under nourishing light.

Seeds are minuscule energy pods which preserve life force through difficulties, and would proliferate into fruition when placed in the right conditions for growth. We draw inspiration from our predecessors, utilize the present resources and opportunities, and shall generate new visions for the future. Besides documenting the seeds of resilience of our unique time and place, much like a seed bank, we hope UABB2022 could let the public know these diverse seeds of resilience, and witness their growth.

2022 HK SZ Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong) (UABB2022) is organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Biennale Foundation (HKIABF), in association with The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) and Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) and is sponsored by Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The exhibition is held from August to November 2022, with an aim to create an environment which nurtures and facilitates the creativity of the professionals and the public.
