Senior Vice President/ Vice President, Digital Technologies & Data Infrastructure

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) is looking for a self-motivated, high-calibre and result-oriented professional to join us to drive investment promotion work for the Digital Technologies and Data Infrastructure (DTDI) sector.

The role

In this dynamic role, you will need to deploy your business development, client servicing and account management skills to make an impact in generating leads and drive client-centric initiatives around customer acquisition, retention and growth. You will leverage your sector knowledge, industry experience and network to promote Hong Kong as an innovation and technology hub for global research collaboration and industry development.  Working with our global network, you will attract and support leading companies from Chinese Mainland and overseas to set up and /or expand their operations in and via Hong Kong.

You will need to demonstrate: 

  • extensive knowledge and work experience in the digital technologies and data infrastructure sector, in particular enterprise solutions gained in Hong Kong and/or globally;
  • strong business acumen and proven record of performance in client-facing activities with savvy marketing and business development skills in the digital technologies and data infrastructure sector;
  • excellent track record of generating leads and capable of managing relationships with ecosystem stakeholders, such as technology parks, universities, research institutions, innovation and co-creation labs, industrial organisations, investor groups, corporates, etc.;
  • excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and public speaking skills in English, Cantonese and Putonghua; and
  • knowledge of and good understanding of Hong Kong’s business environment and familiarity of business opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area would be an advantage.

A candidate will be considered for either a Senior Vice President or a Vice President position depending on the experience and qualifications demonstrated.

Duties

  1. To support the development and implementation of the business plan and contribute to the investment promotion work with a view to improving Hong Kong’s value proposition as an international innovation and technology hub;
  2. To identify, engage, manage and grow target clients to assist their establishment or expansion in Hong Kong, delivering professional client-centric services to achieve pre-set performance targets; 
  3. To lead as the specialist and develop the network for strategic stakeholder engagement for the enterprise solutions/ digital technologies and data infrastructure ecosystem to enhance our relationships with internal and external partners;
  4. To deepen expertise in the enterprise solutions/ digital technologies and data infrastructure sector, and to develop sales messages, presentations, and marketing materials while capturing speaking engagement/ publicity opportunities to raise our profile in the sector; and
  5. To perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.

The position may require some investment promotion visits in the Chinese Mainland and overseas.

Entry Requirements

  1. 5 years of full-time work experience in account management, business development, consulting, project management and/or sales and marketing in at least one area in the digital technologies, AI, cloud, cyber-security and data infrastructure sector, preferably in enterprise solutions;
  2. A Bachelor's degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, preferably in science, technology, engineering, business administration, finance, economics, law, accounting, marketing or a related field.  A higher degree in these fields would be an advantage;
  3. Good knowledge of and experience in the digital technologies and data infrastructure ecosystems.  Prior work experience in investment promotion, marketing or economic development would be an advantage;
  4. Extensive business networks within the digital technologies and data infrastructure sector, including the innovation and technology ecosystem and/or investment community; and
  5. Excellent English and Chinese written communication skills and fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.  Proficiency in another language will be an advantage.

Terms of Appointment

Successful applicant will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for three months and the term will be extended up to an accumulative period of not more than 24 months subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of Invest Hong Kong.  Under normal circumstances, there will usually be further renewal of contract, subject to the performance and conduct of the applicant, and the service need of the department.

Fringe Benefits

  1. An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract.  Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period; and
  2. Applicant appointed will be granted 14 days of annual leave and the entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for appointment less than 12 months.  Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted mainly in line with the provisions of the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance.
