Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) is looking for a dynamic and high-calibre professional to join us as Senior Vice President/ Vice President, Business and Professional Services. This is a pivotal role to drive investment promotion for the infrastructure and real estate related projects.
Role
You will be a key member at InvestHK for promoting the Northern Metropolis as a premier destination for business, technology, and industrial expansion. You will leverage your deep sector knowledge, industry experience, and extensive network to "connect the dots" amongst global investors, developers, and stakeholders. Working with our global network and a wide range of partners, you will attract and support leading companies from the Chinese Mainland and overseas to establish and expand their strategic operations in this new engine of economic growth for Hong Kong.
You will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in formulating and quantifying the economic benefits and strategic value of major infrastructure and real estate developments;
- Strong expertise in land valuation and property assessment, with the ability to evaluate development potential and investment returns for large-scale projects;
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating land contracts, lease agreements, and development terms with project owners, developers, and government authorities;
- Strong business acumen and a proven track record in marketing, negotiation, and business development within built environment-related fields;
- Experience in handling high-level client-facing activities and a proven track record of forging, developing, and managing strong collaboration with key stakeholders (including C-suite executives, government officials, and community leaders);
- Deep knowledge and understanding of Hong Kong’s business environment and political landscape, and with extensive network; and
- Willingness to undertake duty visits outside Hong Kong when required.
A candidate will be considered for either a Senior Vice President or a Vice President position depending on the experience and qualifications demonstrated.
Duties
- To lead investment promotion campaigns for the real estate and infrastructure projects of Hong Kong, including the Northern Metropolis, with a focus on industrial, technology, and business park development and provide leadership to cross-functional teams involved in stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and sector outreach;
- To develop comprehensive economic value propositions and business cases outlining the benefits of major development; and to shape and implement marketing and promotional strategies aligned with the economic development policies of Hong Kong and positioning for Hong Kong, including Northern Metropolis;
- To conduct land valuation assessments and feasibility studies to support investment decision-making and promotional materials for potential investors;
- To negotiate and facilitate land contracts, lease arrangements, and partnership agreements between investors, developers, and relevant government authorities;
- To forge and manage strong partnerships with project owners, financiers, government bodies, industry players, and other key stakeholders locally, Chinese Mainland (especially Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA)), and overseas;
- To oversee client-facing activities including high-level negotiations, business development, marketing, and communications and represent InvestHK at industry conferences, forums, and high-profile public engagements;
- To stay abreast of market trends, regional opportunities, and regulatory changes impacting real estate, infrastructure, and investment promotion; and
- To perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.
Entry Requirements
- Five years' of relevant full-time work experience in business development, strategic planning, investment promotion, or project leadership role gained in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and/or overseas, related to development of large-scale real estate projects, in particular industrial, technology, and/or business parks (e.g. as a project owner, financier, master planner, or marketing lead experience in formulating industry planning for industrial parks, National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (國家高新技術產業開發區), City-Industry Integration projects (產城融合項目)or similar development projects);
- Demonstrated experience in land valuation, property assessment, and/or contract negotiation for real estate or infrastructure projects;
- A Bachelor's degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, preferably in Business, Real Estate, Urban Planning, Economics, Surveying, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), MHKIS (Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors), or equivalent would be a distinct advantage;
- Familiarity with Chinese Mainland, particularly the GBA business landscape is a distinct advantage;
- Exceptional communication, presentation, interpersonal, and public speaking skills; and
- A strong command of both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English. Proficiency in other languages would be an advantage.
Terms of Appointment
Successful applicant will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for three months and the term will be extended up to an accumulative period of not more than 24 months subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of Invest Hong Kong. Under normal circumstances, there will usually be further renewal of contract, subject to the performance and conduct of the applicant, and the service need of the department.
Fringe Benefits
- An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period; and
- Applicant appointed will be granted 14 days of annual leave and the entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for appointment less than 12 months. Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted mainly in line with the provisions of the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance.
