Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) is looking for a passionate, high-calibre, result-oriented professional as Head of Communications.
The Role
The Head of Communications will develop and implement the channels strategy for InvestHK, including website and media (print, TV, digital and social media) in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland and overseas markets. He/She will also support the Directorate and the senior team in media engagement.
You will need to demonstrate:
- A good understanding of the role of InvestHK with knowledge of the local and international business environment;
- proven track record in the field of channels strategy, public relations, public affairs and communications;
- strong connection with local, Chinese Mainland and overseas media;
- strong leadership and supervision skills to drive performance of team members;
- ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- strong language skills and presentation skills; and
- excellent communication and liaison skills.
Duties
- To develop an overall communications strategy for the department, plan and execute a wide range of PR activities, including editorial news stories, media pitching, press conference, media briefing and interviews for senior team of InvestHK and InvestHK’s clients;
- To develop and implement engagement strategies with stakeholders, including media, key opinion leaders, government bureaux/departments and related organisations;
- To prepare press releases for InvestHK and its clients, materials for media interviews and speeches;
- To monitor daily news for major issues related to InvestHK, global economic and Foreign Direct Investment trends;
- To manage media enquiries and media crisis, as well as support on issue management and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to effectively shape public perception for InvestHK and Hong Kong as a whole;
- To manage and maintain InvestHK’s website to ensure they are up-to-date and user-centric;
- To formulate and execute digital marketing strategy content and advertising through the use of online, social and video channels for InvestHK; and
- To perform any other duties and assignments as and when required.
Entry Requirements
- 10 years of relevant full-time work experience in public relations, public affairs or marketing and communications; experience of working in the government or public bodies would be an advantage;
- A Bachelor’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; more advanced degree(s) would be an advantage;
- A strong command of both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English;
- Excellent skills of Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and
- Experience in media, social media promotion and digital marketing.
Terms of Appointment
Successful applicant will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for three months and the term will be extended up to an accumulative period of not more than 24 months subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of Invest Hong Kong. Under normal circumstances, there will usually be further renewal of contract, subject to the performance and conduct of the applicant, and the service need of the department.
Fringe Benefits
- An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period; and
- Applicant appointed will be granted 14 days of annual leave and the entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for appointment less than 12 months. Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted mainly in line with the provisions of the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance.
