Japanese discount megastore Don Quijote opens second store in Hong Kong to meet growing demand by fans
Japanese discount megastore Don Quijote today (12 December 2019) opened its second store of DON DON DONKI in Hong Kong with a wide range of food and fresh items, home and living products, toys plus health and beauty products to meet growing demand.
“DON DON DONKI OP Mall Store” in Tsuen Wan
The new store “DON DON DONKI OP Mall Store” is located at a newly developed shopping mall above Tsuen Wan West station occupying nearly 2 500 square metres and is bigger than the brand’s first outlet in Tsim Sha Tsui. The Tsuen Wan store also has a new food court offering authentic Japanese food, according to the President of Pan Pacific Retail Management (HK) Co Ltd, Mr Mitsuyoshi Takeuchi, the operator of DON DON DONKI in Hong Kong.
He said, "Our first store in Tsim Sha Tsui has proved a big hit among tourists and locals. Our second store is bigger in size and even more dynamic in product and service offering. DON DON DONKI has a growing number of fans in Hong Kong. Our new shop will serve as a vibrant expression of the brand for loyal supporters and draw new customers. We hope to continue our expansion in the Pan-Asia region with a series of new stores being planned for opening soon.”
He added, “Apart from shopping, customers can enjoy a wide range of delicious gourmet such as ramen and tempura in the food court in the new shop, for a total Japanese experience. The food court will open in February 2020.”
Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Dr Jimmy Chiang, said, "We are excited to see DON DON DONKI expanding its business in Hong Kong, which shows that our city is the first choice of base for foreign brands given its international status and efficient business environment. The huge demand for Japanese consumer goods is another factor that contributes to DON DON DONKI’s continued success in Hong Kong and beyond."
