Home quarantine support

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and Innovation and Technology Commission (Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech Research and Technology Centre (LSCM)) have been providing technology support for the Government’s home quarantine measures, particularly the 14-day compulsory home quarantine for people entering Hong Kong from the Mainland. So far, the use of WhatsApp/WeChat location sharing, supplemented by video calls and surprise home visits, has been effective. However, with the continuous increase in the number of Hong Kong residents returning from the Mainland, we need to make available more electronic wristbands to support the measure. This involves procurement of custom-made wristbands and the pairing smart phones, enhancement of the backend system as well as additional manpower to deal with the related monitoring work.
