InvestHK is looking for dynamic, passionate and enthusiastic professional to join a new investment promotion team being established in Dubai within the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO). 

Head, Investment Promotion

InvestHK is the department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government tasked to attract and retain foreign direct investments in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is one of the world’s most dynamic, vibrant and international cities.  As a leading international financial centre, Hong Kong is a premier business hub for companies expanding business in Asia and tapping into fast-growing opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, ASEAN and under the Belt and Road initiative.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for spearheading Hong Kong’s investment promotion activities across United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia (the region).  Travel throughout the region will be required.

With a strong drive to deliver tangible results and positive impact, you will lead a small team to attract companies to set up or expand their businesses in Hong Kong.  You will need to demonstrate that you can engage top-level executives of leading companies, family offices and start-ups looking to enter the Asian markets. You will lead our promotion activities, visits and meetings with potential investors across the region and provide practical assistance whilst working in close collaboration with colleagues based in Hong Kong as well as the HKETO.  You will also need to build partnerships and collaborations with relevant bodies across the region.  You will have to demonstrate exceptional business acumen and deep understanding of the business and economic environment of the region.

Main Job Duties

(i)    To represent Invest Hong Kong based in Dubai for inward investment promotion work in the  region;
(ii)    To develop a strategy and execute the annual geographic business plan for promoting inward investment to Hong Kong and take the lead in achieving annual targets;
(iii)    To devise the list of target companies, in particular in priority sectors and those that can create valued employment in Hong Kong;
(iv)    To reach out proactively to target companies via conducting marketing activities and promotional campaigns, as well as individual company visits and to provide timely advice and practical assistance to potential investors;
(v)    To maintain good working relations with trade associations and key stakeholders/multiplier organisations for market development and lead generation;
(vi)    To raise the profile of Hong Kong and Invest Hong Kong in the region;
(vii)    To arrange and organise visit programmes for different sector teams as well as the directorate from Invest Hong Kong Head Office; 
(viii)    To maintain proper records of the contacts and leads generated via various means including CRM, emails and file record;
(ix)     To oversee the administration of the Investment Promotion Unit in the HKETO and manage the budget and financial resources of the Unit; and
(x)     To support the HKETO activities as and when required.
Entry Requirements

(i)    A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
(ii)    A minimum of 10 years of international sales and/or business development experience, preferably in foreign direct investment promotion or economic development, at a managerial position.  Broad sector knowledge relevant to Hong Kong would be an advantage;
(iii)    Excellent presentation and communication skills in English, proficiency in Arabic would be an advantage;
(iv)    Broad knowledge of the economy and business environment in the Middle East and relevant working experience in the region; experience of living and/or doing business in Hong Kong would be an asset; 
(v)    Must be a resident of the UAE at the time of hire and be eligible to work in the UAE; and
(vi)    Must have no impediments to obtain and hold a work permit to work legally in the UAE. 

Starting salary from 428,160 AED gross per annum, depending upon experience.
