The Power of Two

Visionsky Information Science and Technology Ltd., the financial and professional services software and hardware provider, has partnered with the Guangzhou Government to set up a centre designed to encourage greater commercial opportunities between Hong Kong and Guangzhou-based tech companies.

Opened this summer, the 'Guangzhou Software (Hong Kong) Cooperation Centre' aims to bring together the best of both the regions and forge strong commercial alliances, explains David Chan, Visionsky's chief technical officer. "Guangzhou has the technical expertise and the work force, while Hong Kong has the capital and international experience. Combining the two makes this region stronger and more competitive in the global market."

The primary aim of the Centre is to match Guangzhou-based firms with Hong Kong partners. "Together, these alliances can compete for regional and global multi-million dollar contracts," Chan explains. The Centre will also encourage knowledge transfer between the two regions and will conduct joint promotional activities. "We're already planning a joint event at the CEBIT information and telecoms conference in Germany next year," adds Chan.

Visionsky opened its office in Hong Kong five years ago and has brought a wealth of experience in international business to the Centre. The company, which was established in Guangzhou, originally set up in Hong Kong to be close to some of its major clients. "Since then, we've integrated well into Hong Kong's international business community and have been able to build up a stronger client base," says Chan.

Knowledge transfer has been an important aspect of Visionsky's Hong Kong strategy, Chan believes. "We've taken the management style, business practices and financial accountability that are standard practices in Hong Kong and transferred this knowledge, not only to our head office in Guangzhou, but also to help our other clients across Mainland China. To us, this is one of Hong Kong's key advantages."
